A. Lewis Tompkins

August 28, 1932 — September 18, 2008

Mr. A. Lewis Tompkins, age 76, of Riddleville Rd., Sandersville, died Thursday, September 18, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Dublin following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Rev. Michael Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Billy Tompkins, Wendell Tompkins Jr., Bennie Tompkins, George Rogers, Billy Lively, John Roy Lively, Eric Collier and Cody Collier.

Mr. Tompkins was born in Washington County the son of the late James Wright Tompkins and the late Maxie Vanlandingham Tompkins. He was retired as a sales representative for Childre Chevrolet. Mr. Tompkins was also a fomer EEG Technician for the Atlanta VA. He was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, the Hamilton Masonic Lodge #58 and a former member of the John Conn Post of the VFW. Mr. Tompkins was a Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors are his wife June Hutchinson Tompkins of Sandersville, stepchildren, W. Glenn Bussell, and Beverly Collier both of Sandersville, step grandchildren Eric Collier and Cody Collier, and his brother Wendell Tompkins (Polly) of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends at 1:00pm on Saturday prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
