Addie Cobb Davis

Mrs. Addie Cobb Davis, age 91 of Wommack Brantley Road in Tennille, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of May and Smith Funeral Home with burial to follow in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Gary Griffin will officiate.

Mrs. Davis was born in Morganton, North Carolina, the daughter of the late William Eugene Cobb and the late Claudia Benfield Cobb.  She married her loving husband of 69 years, Rufus Lamar Davis on June 27, 1952. As part of the “Greatest Generation”, Mrs. Davis understood the essentials to being a good wife and loving mother. She enjoyed being a homemaker, providing for her family by cooking, as well as canning and putting up vegetables from the garden. Mrs. Davis was the youngest in a large family, but she was especially close to her sister, Annie Lee, and had daily conversations with her until the latter’s death. She loved to fish and to go antiquing, but above all else she loved spending time with her husband. Mrs. Davis was of the Christian faith and was a member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church in Tennille.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Davis is survived by her children, Stephen Davis of Tennille, and Sheila Davis Cooper (Edwin) of Cataula; grandchildren, Edwin Cooper, III of Columbus, and Charlotte Cooper McDonald (Jason) of Hampton; great grandchildren, Elli and Emma McDonald; niece, Rita Devenny; and nephew, William Trent.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

The family suggests donations be made in Mrs. Davis’s memory to Piney Mount United Methodist Church, P.O. Box, 575, Sandersville, GA 31082.
