Mrs. Agnes Toulson Burgamy, age 83, of Sparta, died Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21st at 3:00pm at the Bethel Baptist Church in Hancock County with burial in the Sparta City Cemetery. Rev. Paul Lewis and Rev. Bobby Hattaway will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Burgamy’s grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Mrs. Burgamy was born in Hancock County the daughter of the late Leroy Toulson and the late Florence Johnson Toulson Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. Mrs. Burgamy shared her love of music singing, along with her husband, in the Joy Makers Quartet. She is predeceased by her husband James Calvin Burgamy, her son-in-law Albert Rachels and her great granddaughter Stephanie Rachels.
Survivors are; her children, Lillie B. Rachels of Milledgeville, Jimmy Burgamy and Jan B. (Robert) Hattaway both of Sparta, and Missy B. (Ray) Poole of Jacksonville, FL., grandchildren, Vicki T. (Tom) Odom, Donald J. (Kay) Rachels, Vince Rachels, Greg (Maria) Burgamy, Beth (Rodney) Atha, Bobby (Amanda) Hattaway, Blake Poole and Hannah Poole, 15 great grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and her sister Almarene Johnson of Sparta.
The family will be at the residence of Jan and Robert Hattaway on Linton Rd., Sparta and they will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
