Alan Wade Layton, age 48 of Riddleville, died Wednesday, July 2nd, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverends Matthew Pierson and David Braswell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eric Lee, Billy Wiggins, Steve Wallace, Tommy Wallace, Daniel Braswell, David Braswell, Raymond Davis and Robert Rogers.
Alan was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was a 1984 graduate of Brentwood School and also a graduate of Georgia College with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. Alan was an active and faithful member of his church, United Faith Ministries. He formerly worked for Oconee Fall Line Technical College as the Distant Learning Coordinator. Alan was an outdoorsman and loved to hunt and garden. He enjoyed working with kids through volunteering at church camp, 4-H and serving as a soccer coach.
Survivors include; his wife, Patricia Nipper Layton; children, Lance Thomas Layton and Elizabeth Grace Layton, all of Riddleville; parents, Benjamin T. and Cynthia Pierson Layton also of Riddleville; and siblings, Arlene L. Norris and her husband Alan of Augusta and Lane Layton and his wife Dolores of Vidalia.
The family will be at their residence, 8500 Riddleville Road, and they will receive friends, Saturday, July 5th from 9:30 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home.
