Mr. Albert “Bud” Cato, Jr., age 86, of Warthen, died Friday, February 21, 2014 at his residence. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd, at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Dr. Jim Ellison and Rev. Don Black will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Cato was the son of the late Albert Cato, Sr. and the late Rita Mae Maum Cato of Manchester, Georgia. He attended Rhinehart College in Waleska, Georgia and King College in Bristol, Tennessee before choosing a career in the U.S. Military. Mr. Cato retired after 21 years of service in the U.S. Army. After military retirement, Bud retired to his farm in Washington County where he worked in the Kaolin Industry for 28 years with American Industrial Clays and Georgia Kaolin. He is predeceased by his brother, Jack Cato.
Survivors are his wife of 60 years, Loretta Parrish Cato of Warthen; children, Tim Cato and Rebian Cato Brookins both of Sandersville and Jonathan Cato and his wife Pam of Kathleen; grandchildren, Caleb Ellington and his wife Anna, Calla Brookins, Wesley Cato, Michelle Cato Helton and her husband Kevin and Andrew Collins; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Vivian C. Herring of Wrightsville and Rebecca C. Tantillo of Munci, Pennsylvania; several nieces and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Cato of Riverdale.
The family will be at the Cato residence on Mills Lindsey School Road north of Warthen.
