Algie Washington Brown

November 15, 1939 — February 19, 2012

Mr. Algie Washington Brown, age 72, of Ridge Road in Sandersville, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, February the 23rd at 2:00pm at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery near Warthen. The Rev. Brian Leverett will officiate. Pallbearers will be Cecil Brown Jr., Russ Brown, Chris Brown, Timothy Brown, Cody Brown, Dustin Brown, and Johnny Durden.

Mr. Brown was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the son of the late Pete Fair Brown and the late Thelma Page Brown. He was a retired truck driver for Howard Sheppard Inc. and he was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Algie had a great love for fishing and gardening. He is predeceased by his son Thomas Gregory “Greg” Brown and his brother Pete Fair Brown Jr.

Survivors are: his wife Marilyn Jenkins Brown, of Sandersville; children, Denise B. Collis ( Wayne ), Deborah B. Wilder (Darrell), Alan Brown (Pam) all of Eatonton, Eddie Corne (Lindie) of Monroe, Angela C. Kitchens (Timothy) of Columbia SC. , Michael Corne of Sandersville and Gary Meeks (Karen) of Linton; 19 grandchildren; 7 great- grandchildren; brothers, Cecil Brown of Warthen, Randy Brown (Becky) of Ft. Collins CO., Mack Brown (Sandra), Harville Brown and his sister Sarah B. Bratcher all of Lugoff SC.

The family will be at the Brown residence, 2265 Ridge Road, Sandersville and will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
