Mrs. Alice Woodard Kearse, age 87, of Davisboro, died Saturday, July 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope United Methodist Church near Davisboro with Rev. Ron Dixon officiating. A private burial service will be held at Christ St. Paul’s Parrish Cemetery in Hollywood S.C.
Mrs. Kearse was a native of Washington County Georgia, the daughter of the late Julian Howard Woodard and the late Ora Moye Woodard. She was a longtime resident of Charleston S.C. where she worked for the Fort Sumpter Hotel and she was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. She retired home to Washington County and attended her childhood church the New Hope United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kearse is predeceased by her husband W.G. Kearse, and children, Carolyn Elaine Swindell, Johnny Swindell and Ricky Swindell.
Mrs. Kearse is survived by her daughter, Kay Swindell Morris of Charleston S.C., 5 granddaughters, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Emily Swindell of Riddleville, her sister, Dot W. Norris of Sandersville and brothers, Fred Woodard Sr. and his wife Judy and Cecil Woodard all of Riddleville.
The family will be at the residence of Cecil Woodard on Old Davisboro Road, Riddleville and they will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
