Allen Wayne Anderson

Mr. Allen Wayne Anderson, age 71, of Sandersville died Tuesday morning, June 24, 2014 at his residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 26th, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. Reverend L. T. Logue and Reverend Gary Mimbs will officiate with burial in the Sisters Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Seth Everett, Clarence Durden, Grady Sanders, Michael McLester, Vernon Tooke and John Chandler.

Mr. Anderson was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Elmer Gilbert Anderson and the late Mary Tompkins Anderson. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd Hilburn. Mr. Anderson was a retired plumber. He was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Nell Barfield Anderson of Sandersville; a daughter, Mary Marvlyn Anderson of Lake Panasoffe, Florida; a son, Mark Elmer Anderson of Jacksonville; three sisters, Faye Lord of Tennille, Lynda Long and her husband Bob of Hilton Head Island, SC, and Iris Thompson and her husband Bill of Greenville, TN; two brothers, Marion Anderson and his wife Jean of Sandersville and Terry Anderson of Sandersville; and a grandson, Seth Everett.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. on Thursday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
