Mrs. Allene Renfroe Collins, age 83, of Sandersville, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 2, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Reverend Marlon Lastinger and Reverend Ricky Allen will officiate.
Mrs. Collins was born and raised in Washington County, the daughter of the late James Nathanial Renfroe and the late Ruby Garner Renfroe. She is predeceased in death by her husband, Charlie Collins and one sister, Mildred Hadden.
She was a homemaker for several years before starting her career with Burgess Pigment Company. She was the first female employee for the company and retired as customer service manager after thirty-five years of dedicated service. Mrs. Collins owned Allene’s Hearts and Flowers and found happiness displaying her hobby in arts & crafts festivals across GA. She loved to travel and was always ready to go at a moments notice.
Survivors include; her children, Jim Collins (Sharon) of Sunbury, GA, Al Collins (Cindy) of Macon, GA, Susan Allen (Mark) of Sandersville, GA, and Kerry Collins (Ann) of Milledgeville, GA; her grandchildren, Adam Allen (Ember) of Durham, NC, Ally Collins of Charlotte, NC, Kyle Collins (Emily) of Bend, OR, and Annie Collins Barnes (Tyler) of Savannah, GA.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, December 1, at May and Smith Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and at the social hall of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church one hour prior to the service and after the service.
Mrs. Collins was a life-long member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, and memorial donations will be accepted to support the preservation of the Church.
May and Smith Funeral Directors will provide the caring arrangements for the service.
