Andrew Curtis Tingle

December 24, 1933 — July 17, 2023

Mr. Curtis Tingle, age 89, of Riddleville, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023.  A funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Reverend Marty Deal and Reverend M.D. Cabe will officiate. Pallbearers will be Randy Jackson, Bill Frost, Jimmy Cook, Greg Frazier, David Frost and Dylan Frost.  Mr. Tingle's family will receive friends following graveside in the social hall of the church.

Andrew Curtis Tingle was born on December 24, 1933 and reared in Harrison, the son of the late Andrew Jackson Tingle and the late Ruby Duggan Tingle.  He graduated from Harrison High School, where he excelled in the pole vault and won the state title in the high jump, three years in a row. Following high school, Mr. Tingle worked with his father as a mechanic, prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served his country with pride in Ft. Hood Texas and in Germany, during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, Mr. Tingle continued his work as a mechanic, until he began a long career, as a certified diesel mechanic for John Deere, retiring as service manager of Meeks Tractor Company in Tennille.  Following retirement, he continued working as a mechanic at his shop at home. Mr. Tingle was a former member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was currently a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon, active in the church brotherhood and a former Sunday School teacher.  His hobby was collecting tools, and he loved music, both gospel and country. Mr. Tingle was a self-taught guitarist, rarely playing for anyone but himself.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Tingle, sister, Janelle Tingle Smith, and grandson, Paul Franklin.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean Smith Tingle; children, Paula Frost and her husband Rabun of Riddleville, Cindy Giddens and her husband Tracy of Tennille, David Franklin and his wife Donna of St. Marys and Sherry Hosti and her husband Mike of Tybee Island; grandchildren, Blake Frost and his wife Tabatha, Brandon Frost, A.J. Giddens, Preston Giddens, Jeremy Franklin, Kyle Rogers and Kortney DeHass and her husband Jesse; great grandchildren, Lorelai DeHass, Micah DeHass and Noah DeHass; siblings, Faye Brantley and Carlton Tingle and many nieces and nephews.

Donations may be made to the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1839 New Bethel Road, Bartow, Ga. 30413.
