Ann N Pittman

Loving mother and grandmother, Mrs. Ann Pittman, age 89, of North Harris Street in Sandersville, died Wednesday, September 7th, 2022, following a recent fall.  A service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday September 9 ^th at Sandersville United Methodist Church.  Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service in Heritage Hall.

Martha Ann Norris Pittman, later known as “Miss Ann”, was born September 23, 1932, in Warren County and grew up in Sparta, the daughter of the late Willie Lee Norris and Omie N. Norris.  Ann was a star player on the Sparta High School basketball team and loved to tell her grandchildren stories about her times on the court and growing up in Sparta.  After marrying Sol, they made a home in Sandersville where they raised their children Neil and Jan.  Ann and Sol were owners of Pittman Bakery for many years, and Ann was a talented wedding and birthday cake decorator.  Ann worked at the Playhouse Nursery after closing the bakery.  Later in life, Ann could always be found having lunch at the Country Buffett where she enjoyed fellowship with her friends.  Ann also loved listening to the WACO Hawks and Brentwood Eagles football games on the radio, listening for the names of the children she knew.

Ann was a member of the 20th Century Club and Sandersville United Methodist Church that she loved so much.

Ann will be missed by her family: children, Neil and Penny Pittman and daughter Jan May of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Justin Phillips, Meg and Danny Levie, Walker and Olivia May; sister, Eloise Cheely; and nieces.  Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Sol; son, Allen; son-in-law, Jerry May; sister, Mary Tucker; brothers James and Allen Norris.
