Anne Garrett Jones

Mrs. Anne Garrett Jones, age 88, of Riddleville, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023.  A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 30th, at 11:00 a.m. at Riddleville Baptist Church with burial in Riddleville Cemetery.  Reverend Allen Wiggins and Reverend Wade Dawson will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Michael Leonard, Taylor Leonard, Todd Rackliff, Scotty Garrett, Austin Garrett, Justin Garrett, Craige Walker and Richard Jackson. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late William E. Garrett Sr. and the late Edna Moye Garrett. She graduated from Sandersville High School and began her working career as a receptionist in Dr. Osgood Bateman's Veterinary Practice.  Later, she worked for the medical offices of Dr. William Rawlings Sr. and Dr. Dean Holmes prior to a career as a social worker for the Department of Family and Children's Services from which she retired.  Mrs. Jones was a long time and active member of Riddleville Baptist Church where she served as church secretary for over 20 years. She loved to travel, especially to the mountains, and cherished time with her grands. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones is predeceased by her husband, Willie D. Jones, Jr.

Survivors include, her daughter, Billie Anne Thacker of Bluffton, S.C.; grandchildren, Jo Marie Rackliff and her husband Todd of Bluffton and Vickie Leigh Leonard and her husband Michael of Greenville, S.C.; great-grandson, Taylor Michael Leonard; and sister, Jean Anderson and her husband Marion of Sandersville.
