Mrs. Annette Glover Peavy, age 86, of Warthen, died Sunday, November 1, 2020. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church Cemetery north of Warthen. Reverend Roy Smith and Mrs. Maura Peavy will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Vaden, Buddy Pulliam, Christopher Peavy and John Bowen.
Mrs. Peavy was born in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Nelson Glover and the late Bessie May Glover. She was reared in both Washington and Jefferson Counties and graduated from Louisville High School where she was a member of the ladies’ state championship basketball team. Mrs. Peavy soon married her husband of 68 years, Luke Peavy and together they operated the Peavy farm and specialized producing eggs. She was a longtime and active member of Union Baptist Church where she served the church as WMU director, Sunday School teacher and as the assistant church treasurer. Growing roses and fishing were perhaps her favorite hobbies and she was known for her excellent cooking skills. She is predeceased in death by her sisters, Marian Teuton and Virginia Fox.
Survivors are her husband, Luke Peavy of Warthen; sons, Ronnie Peavy and his wife Arleen also of Warthen and Randy Peavy and his wife Sherry of Sandersville; grandchildren, Tonya P. Bowen and her husband John of Conyers, Christopher Peavy and his wife Maura of Warthen; great grandchildren, Savannah Grace Peavy and Jordan Bowen; and siblings Evelyn Petrea of Augusta, Betty Brooks of McCalla, AL, Lynette Meeks of Sandersville, Charlie Glover and his wife Linda of Zephyhills, FL, Mickey Rudolph and her husband Jack of Raleigh, NC, Marguerite Garner and her husband Jerry of Burlington, NC, Janice Richardson and her husband Jimmy of Augusta, Marinelle Thomas of Belton, SC, Danny Glover and his wife Dawn of Evans, Glenda Shields and her husband Leon and Beth Thomas both of Graham, NC.
