Mr. Robert Marshall, age 67, of Betty Street in Sandersville, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, July 20th at 2:00 p.m., at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Scott Thompson and Reverend Wade Dawson will officiate. John Robert Marshall, William Bridges, John Garner, Chris Cook, Frank Hatcher, Shane Hart and David Hartley will serve as pallbearers.
Arlie Robert Marshall was born in Sandersville on March 8, 1956, the son of the late Arlie Hanson "Buck" Marshall and the late Mary Frances Sumner Marshall. He graduated high school in Harrison, Ga. and immediately began a 49-year career in the Kaolin Industry. He began with Georgia Kaolin, transitioned to Imerys and retired from Thiele Kaolin Co. Robert possessed a lifelong love of cars and motorcycles. He was a talented mechanic who loved helping others with their mechanical issues. Robert was musically inclined, playing the drums and most any instrument he chose. He was known for staying close to home, working in his shop, and caring for his family.
Survivors include his wife Janet Byrnes Marshall of Sandersville; two sons, John Robert Marshall of Decatur and Christopher David Marshall of Sandersville; and siblings, Mary R. Garner and her husband John of Warthen, and Norman Marshall of Tennille.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home.
