Mrs. Barbara Alice Moss, age 78, of 6461 News Bridge Road in Harrison died Thursday, October 28, at her residence following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 1, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Osborne, Elder Kenneth Brantley and Rev. Roger Holley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bobby Bates, Daniel Bates, Wayne Smith, Richard Knowles, C. J. Smith and Jeff Armisteard.
Mrs. Moss was a native of Washington County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Rabun Jones and the late Mary Alice Smith Jones. She was the wife of the late Alford Robert Moss. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Eugene Jones. Mrs. Moss was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Senior Church Group.
Survivors are her children, Bobby Lee Bates and his wife Patty of Harrison, Rita Carmen Bates Weaver and her husband Charles of Harrison and Robert Henry Knowles and his wife Kathy of Harrison, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, three nieces and a nephew, two sisters, Claria Lambert and her husband Richard and Betty Ann Katz both of Miami, three step brothers, Bobby Lee Jones, Michael Jones and Ronnie Jones all of Florida.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00PM to 6:00PM on Sunday.
The family suggests that donations be made to the Advantage Hospice, 606 West Court Street, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
