Ben William Franklin

February 8, 1949 — August 29, 2022

Mr. Ben William Franklin, age 73, of Walden Road, Sandersville, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, at his residence following an extended illness.  A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. in Brownwood Cemetery with Reverend Roger Holly officiating.

Ben was a native and lifelong resident of Sandersville, the son of the late Sam Franklin and the late Lillian Franklin.  He graduated from Washington County High School prior to serving his country in the Army stationed in Panama.  After his return from service, Ben began a 30 plus year career with Lapp Insulator from which he retired as a laboratory technician.  In retirement, Ben took classes in welding and became a welding instructor at Sandersville Technical College.  He always had a passion for motorcycles and loved watching NASCAR as a huge Bill Elliott fan.  In addition to his parents, Ben is predeceased by a daughter, Tracy Michelle Franklin.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny O'Quinn Franklin of Sandersville; children, William Smith and his wife Ashia of Augusta and Sharon Franklin of Charleston, SC; and grandchildren, Allie Smith, Abbie Smith and Charlie Smith.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service on Wednesday in the Cemetery.
