Benjamin Franklin Smith

Mr. Benjamin Franklin "Benny" Smith, age 66, of Tennille, died Tuesday, March 16, 2021.  A family memorial service celebrating his life will be held at a later date.

Mr. Smith was born in Laurens County, the son of the late Bobby Franklin Smith and the late Zelma Louella Stephens Smith.  He was reared in Johnson County and began his working career in the Kaolin Industry with Englehard as a mine worker.  Benny worked as a truck driver for numerous transportation companies throughout his career.  He was considered a "jack of all trades" and enjoyed working as a mechanic on the side.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Hartley Smith of Tennille; children, Benjamin Franklin Smith III of Augusta, Bobby Anderson Smith and his wife Marie of McIntyre, Laurie Elaine Weaver and her husband Joseph and Rebecca Ann Valentine all of Terre Houte, IN., Lamar Stevens Smith and his wife Stephanie of McIntyre, Benjamin Thomas Smith and his wife Megan of Harrison and Amy Lord and her fiancé Chris Wills of Tennille; nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
