Bennie Frank Turner

Mr. Bennie Frank Turner, age 85, of Club Forest Drive, Tennille, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29 at 11:00am at the Tennille Baptist Church with burial in Zeta Cemetery. Rev. Ray Walls will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tom Duggan, Shane Duggan, Don Roberson, David Chalker, Brian Barron and Willie Ingram. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Tennille Baptist Church.

Mr. Turner was born in Washington County the son of the late Moses Turner and the late Sarah Lindsey Turner. He was retired from Corbett Plywood Company as a wood inspector and also formerly worked for Railway Express. Mr. Turner was an active member of the Tennille Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 40 years and served on numerous church committees. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, a member and former commander of the John Conn Post of the VFW and also a member of the American Legion Washington County Post 94 for over 60 years. Mr. Turner was an avid fisherman.

Survivors are his wife Mable Duggan Turner of Tennille, his daughter Jayne Turner Jones (Danny) of Tennille, step grandchildren, Kasey Henry and Adam Jones, and step great grandchildren Taylor Thomas, Mackenzie Thomas, Addison Jones and Raylee Henry.

The family will be at the Turner residence on Club Forest Drive and will receive friends Wednesday, from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
