Bernice Carter Lord

Mrs. Bernice Carter Lord, age 76, of Sandersville died on Saturday, March 12, 2016, in the Tennille Assisted Living following an extended illness.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville with Reverend Jamie Davis officiating.

Mrs. Lord was the daughter of the late Leroy Hipp Carter, Sr. and the late Ellen Amerson Carter. She was the wife of the late Buford Warren Lord. She was a retired seamstress for William Carter Company. Mrs. Lord was an active member of the Sisters Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club. Mrs. Lord was known for her wonderful relish and her delicious cakes. She was a regular vendor of the Sandersville downtown market on the square.

Survivors are: her brother, L. H. Carter, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Warthen; two nephews, Jason Carter and his wife Colleen of Sandersville, and Chris Carter and his wife Alison of Statesboro; a brother in law, Lester Lord and his wife Martha of Tennille; a niece, Melissa Strickland and her husband Mack; and a nephew, Shane Lord and his wife Virginia.
