Bernice Colson Maurier

Mrs. Bernice Colson Maurier, age 78, of 205 West Haynes Street in Sandersville died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, in the Washington County Extended Care Facility in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 18, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville. The Rev. Lee Lacey and Rev. Scott McDade will officiate with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille.

Mrs. Maurier was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Colson, Sr. and the late Ocele Stewart Colson. She was the wife of the late Frank Maurier. Mrs. Maurier was a retired sales clerk with Karol’s of Sandersville. Mrs. Maurier was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sandersville, the Joy Club and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Maurier was preceded in death by two brothers, T.J. Colson and Ben Colson.

Survivors are her son, Thomas B. Bryan and his wife Beth of Waynesboro, two step-sons, Frank Mauier, Jr. of Deerborn, Michigan and Andrew Maurier of Howell, Michigan, five grandchildren, Blane Bryan, Jessica B. Pione, Amie Elliott, Mallorie Bryan and Abbie Bryan, two great grandchildren, Sofia Pione and Alexander Pione, three sisters, Grace Doss of Mauldin, SC, Francis Williams of Tullahoma, TN and Linda Barnwell of Unadilla , four brothers, Billy E. Colson of Canton, MS, Bob Colson of Unadilla, Kenneth Colson of Warner Robins and Ronnie Colson of Sandersville.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
