Mrs. Bertha Caudill Anderson, age 88, of Oconee died on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, in Perry following an extended illness. She touched many lives in both Washington and Houston Counties with her beautiful smile, heart of love, and strong faith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Anderson will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11, in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Bay Springs Cemetery near Oconee. Reverend Johnny Anderson and Reverend David Fisher will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jeff Norris, Stephen Norris, Ethan Nipper, Hunter Downie, Matt Daniel and Terry Smith.
Mrs. Anderson was a native of Letcher, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Wesley Caudill and the late Millie Whitaker Caudill. She was the wife of the late Devayor Tompkins Anderson. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Lee and twelve other siblings. Mrs. Anderson was the final surviving member of the fourteen Caudill children. Mrs. Anderson was a former employee of Oconee Health and Rehabilitation and a homemaker. Mrs. Anderson was raised in the Old Regular Baptist Church and attended the Oconee Church of God.
Survivors are: a daughter, Mary Ann Bowers and her husband Samuel of Kathleen; four sons, Reverend Johnny Anderson and his wife Brenda of Loganville, Danny Anderson and his wife Glenda of Oconee, David Anderson and his wife Pat of Plant City, Florida, and Mark Anderson of Oconee; fourteen grandchildren; thirty six great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren; sister in laws, Willie Jean Doolittle and her husband Billy of Oconee, Centa Caudill of Franklin, Ohio, and May Bell Anderson of Oconee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. on Saturday.
