Bertha "Bertie" Cooper

Miss Bertha "Bertie" Cooper, age 76 of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of May and Smith Funeral Directors, with burial following in the Rutherford Cemetery in Oconee. The family will greet friends on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Miss Cooper was born in Sandersville, to Marion Leslie Cooper, Sr. and the late Bertha Brantley Cooper. She was a member of the first graduating class of Northeast Louisiana University, now the University of Louisiana-Monroe in 1970, with a bachelor’s degree in photography. In the 1970’s Bertha, was also a member of the Fever for Elvis Fan Club. She spent her working career in the insurance industry, as an Insurance Rater. Bertha was fond of cats, and her beloved cat Lily, recently preceded her in death. She loved her nephews and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Miss Cooper is survived by her father, Marion Leslie Cooper, Sr., of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; brother, Dr. Marion Leslie Cooper, II and his wife Sharon, also of Mt. Pleasant; nephews, Samuel Brantley Cooper and Charles Morrison Cooper; aunts, Emily Fejes and Fay Kilgore; and many cousins.
