Mrs. Bertha Jean Curbow Quarles, age 83, of Sandersville died Thursday night, December 13, 2012, in the Oconee Health and Rehab following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 17th, at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Danny Thomas will officiate.
Mrs. Quarles was the daughter of the late Joseph Martin Curbow and the late Fannie Victoria Hayes Curbow. She was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Cecil Quarles and her daughter, Sharon Annette May. She was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Survivors are: her daughter, Sarah Jacqueline Sheffield of Tennille; her son, Joseph Marlin Quarles of Dalton; five grandchildren, Stacy May, Teresa May, Judy Lanthripp, J. J. Quarles and Patrick Sheffield; and a great- grandson, Jackson May.
The family will receive friends on Monday at the May & Smith Funeral Home from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
