Bertha Lou Tompkins Lewis

Mrs. Bertha Lou Tompkins Lewis, age 90, of 1312 Smyrna Church Road in Deepstep died February 14. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday February 17 in the Smyrna Baptist Church Cemetery in Deepstep. The Rev. Roy Smith will officiate.

Mrs. Lewis was a native of Washington County, the daughter of the late Albert Tompkins and the late Minnie Lou Smith Tompkins. She was the wife of the late William James “W.J.” Lewis and was predeceased by daughter, Linda Lewis Copeland. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and a member of the Smyrna Baptist Church and the Women’s Missionary Union.

Survivors are her children, James (Donna) Lewis of Austell, Loyette Lewis (Don) Neal of Milledgeville, Ricky Lewis of Langley, SC., Ronald (Carol) Lewis of Harlem and Donald (Kathy) Lewis of Deepstep, a sister, Frances (Jimmy) Tompkins Nix of Dublin, a son in law, Tom Copeland, eighteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a favorite charity.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
