Mrs. Bessie Stevens Braddon, age 85, of Davisboro, died Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Sandersville. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 27th at 2:00pm at the Davisboro Baptist Church with burial in the Davisboro City Cemetery. Rev. Larry Glover will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Braddon’s grandsons.
Mrs. Braddon was born in Emanuel County the daughter of the late Young Robert Stevens and the late Jennie Tressa Outlaw Stevens. She worked as a former seamstress, as a dietician for the Emanuel County Hospital and as a bus driver for the Jefferson County Board of Education. Mrs. Braddon was a former long time resident of Boston Massachusetts as well as Emanuel County Georgia before moving to Washington County to be near family. She was a member of the Davisboro Baptist Church and is predeceased by her husbands Abraham E. Gross and Ernest Braddon and her son Mark Alexander Gross.
Survivors are her sons, Robert E. Gross (Maxine) of Tennille and Wayne L. Gross of Sandersville, her daughter Anne Mourlot (William) of Fayetville, NC., grandchildren, Robert Mourlot, Laurie M. Strother, William Mourlot, Robert W. Gross, Randall E. Gross, Rosanne E. Gross, Rebecca Gross, and Aaron Gross, and great grandchildren, Abby Gross and Cylus Gross.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
