Mrs. Bessie Crabb Smith, age 101, of Tennille, died Saturday, January 2, 2016 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sandersville with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverends Gary Mimbs and Danny Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be John Garner, Carlton Parker, Zac Parker, Ricky Haywood, Jody Garnto, Carl Caneega, Alan Smith and Mack Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a native of Johnson County the daughter of the late George Riley Crabb and the late Rebecca Jane Brantley Crabb. She was a former seamstress for the Royal Manufacturing Company. Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she held the distinction of being the Church’s oldest member.
Survivors are: her children, Shirley S. Haywood and her husband Robert, Bobby H. Smith and Connie S. Garnto all of Tennille and Faye S. Davis of Kathleen, grandchildren, Cindy Garner and her husband John, Ricky Haywood and his wife Dale, Denise Parker and her husband Carlton, Tracy Caneega and her husband Carl, Jody Garnto and Teri Wilkes, six great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
The family will be at the Smith residence on E. Third Ave. in Tennille and they will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
