Betty Summerlin Barker

Mrs. Betty Summerlin Barker, age 82, of Sandersville, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. The Reverend Dr. Joe Buck IV will officiate.

Mrs. Barker was a native of Johnson County the daughter of the late Curtis Wayne “Dick” Summerlin and the late Grace Lovett Summerlin. She is predeceased by her husband, John Franklin Barker, Sr. Mrs. Barker worked as a bookkeeper for her family’s business, Barker and Associates and she was a homemaker. Mrs. Barker was a member the Sandersville United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children, John F. Barker, Jr. and his wife Terri of Sandersville, Robert W. Barker and his wife Jo of Augusta, Mary Elizabeth B. Farrior and her husband John, Thomas S. Barker and his wife Betty and Daniel L. Barker and his wife Kathy all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Jessica B. Craft and her husband Matt, Sarah Handwerker and her husband Sawn, Matt Farrior, John Farrior, Jr., Kathryn Farrior, Grace Barker and Clay Barker; and great-grandchildren, Liam Craft, Wyatt Handwerker and Michael Handwerker; sister, Judy S. Hudson and her husband Bill of Locust Grove; and a brother, Wayne Summerlin and his wife Lucy of Ponte Vedra, FL.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
