Mrs. Betty Elizabeth Ann Hendricks Brett, age 80 of Sandersville, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2022, at her residence following an extended illness. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Reverend Lee Lacey will officiate.
Mrs. Brett was born October 5, 1941, the daughter of the late Ollie Robert Hendricks and the late Ouida Thornton Hendricks. She was a lifelong resident of Sandersville and was a member of the last graduating class of Sandersville High School in 1959. Mrs. Brett attended the University of Georgia from 1959 to 1962 where she was chosen to be a Resident Student Assistant and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She graduated from Georgia College in 1969. Mrs. Brett began her employment with the Department of Family and Children’s Service, in 1970, and would continue there until she retired as director for Washington County DFACS in 2002. Mrs. Brett was also involved with elections in Washington County, working many years with early voting and as Sandersville Precinct Manager. She was a charter member of the Washington County Pilot Club where she served in a number of capacities over the years, including treasurer, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, director, and chaplain. Mrs. Brett was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandersville where she served on the Fellowship Committee, the Bereavement Committee and was a member of the Cornerstone Sunday School Class. She found much enjoyment in traveling with her husband Tom, as well as gardening, cooking, and looking after her family.
Mrs. Brett is survived by her beloved husband, Thomas “Tom” E. Brett; daughter, Lynn B. Henderson (Keith) of Milledgeville; granddaughter, Heather Elizabeth Satterwhite (David) of Rincon; great grandsons, Braxton Thomas Satterwhite, Jonah Evan Satterwhite, and Liam Asher Satterwhite; a brother, James Robert “Bobby” Hendricks (Martha) of Sandersville; sister-in-law, Alda Barrick (Glenn) of Portsmouth, VA; and nephew, Craig Hendricks (DeeDee) of Mentone, Alabama.
The family will greet friends following the service in the church social hall.
