Betty Porter Dalton

Mrs. Betty Porter Dalton age 82, of Gwendolyn Street in Sandersville, passed away at Washington County Regional Medical Center on Friday, March 8, 2024, following an extended illness. A service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., in the Chapel at May and Smith Funeral Directors with burial at Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Andy Yates will officiate. Pallbearers will be B.J. Dalton, Kyle Brooks, Steven Chandler, Brent Palmer, Daniel Dalton, and Austin Teel. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the funeral home, beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Dalton was born in Sandersville, the daughter of the late Joe Cephus Porter and Lillie Mazie Bussell Porter. She was a loving homemaker for her husband and four children. Mrs. Dalton enjoyed spending time gardening, as well as fishing at the lake. She was always available to talk on the telephone. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dalton is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Marion Dalton, Jr.

Mrs. Dalton is survived by her children, Joanna Chandler and her husband Ralph of Davisboro, John Dalton and his wife Danette of Riddleville, Chris Dalton and his wife Tracy of Alexander City, AL, and Louis Dalton and his wife Christina of Sandersville; grandchildren, Anna Marie Palmer and her husband Brent, Steven Chandler and his wife Sarah, B.J. Dalton and his wife Jessie, Meagan Brooks and her husband Kyle, Dr. Casey Teel and her husband Austin, Daniel Dalton, and Everlee Dalton; great grandchildren, Kaylee Chandler, Maddlynn Chandler, Turner Chandler, Abbey Daniel, Dalton Palmer, Betsy Brooks, Maggie Brooks, Jed Dalton, Mazie Teel, and Lilly Teel; sister, Nell Jordan, of Texas; sisters-in-law, Rosalyn Dalton Lord and Velma Dalton; and several nieces and nephews.
