Betty Louise Humphrey

Miss Betty Louise Humphrey, age 87, of Linton Road in Sandersville, died Saturday, October 02, 2010 at the Washington County Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, at 2:00pm at the Davisboro Baptist Church with burial in the Davisboro City Cemetery. Rev. L.T. Logue, Rev. Bill Moody and Rev. Chad Watkins will officiate. Pallbearers will be William Moats, Carl Wright, Billy Garner, Ricky Schuyler, Mark West and Wallace Smith.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Washington County Sheriffs Department.

Miss Betty was born in Washington County, the daughter of the late Charlie Daniel Humphrey and the late Odie Lee Cobb Humphrey. She served as the Washington County Tax Commissioner being elected in 1975 and retiring in 1998. Prior to her service in the tax office, Miss Betty worked as a sheriff’s deputy for Sheriff Euree Curry and returned to the Sheriff’s office as receptionist for Sheriff Thomas Smith in retirement. Miss Betty was a long time active member of the Davisboro Baptist Church and at her death was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church. Miss Betty had a life long passion for music, singing at numerous venues during her lifetime. She was a member of the Washington County Pilot Club and the Woodmen of the World.

Survivors are; her nieces and nephews, Curtis Wilcher of Louisville, Bobby Boulineau (Carolyn) of Wrens, Hellen Hartley (Frank) of Louisville, Hazel Moore of Crawfordville IN., Odie Futral of Blueridge, Dan Glover (Joan) of Sandersville, niece-in-laws, Patsy Humphrey of Riddleville, Elaine Glover of Murfreesboro TN., and Louvenia Wilcher of Columbus, a nephew-in-law James McNeely of Louisville and great nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family will be at the residence of Dan and Joan Glover on Moye Drive in Sandersville and will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
