Betty Ann Jones

Mrs. Betty Ann Jones, age 88, of Davisboro, died Thursday, December 1, 2016 at her residence following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016, at Davisboro Baptist Church with burial in the Davisboro City Cemetery. Reverend Larry Glover will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Berry Phillips, Stacer Helton, Neil Pittman, Wesley Palmer, Brent Palmer, and H.T. Downs. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Beal, Mike Hodges,Jimmy Glover, Steve Black, Johnny Johnson, Ronnie Jones, Burt Clifton, Willis Hartley, Jason Hartley, , Olin Glover,Curtis Blount,Sam Woodard, Vick Felbob, and Steve Coy.

Mrs. Jones was born in Jefferson County, the daughter of the late Herbert Lee Hodges Sr. and the late Annie Myrtice Burgamy Hodges. She worked in the restaurant business all of her life starting with Hodges Restaurant in Davisboro which she later purchased, owned and operated. Mrs. Jones then worked in Sandersville at the Steak House, G.C.’s and lastly the Country Buffet. She was a member of the Davisboro Baptist Church where she was a former children’s Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include: her daughters, Sandra Jones Price and her husband Ken, and Jo Powell all of Davisboro; grandchildren, Jamie Price, Krystal Pittman and Katlin Callaway; great grandson, Jackson Pittman; sister-in-law’s, Jane Woodard, Geraldine Hodges both of Davisboro and Mabel Hodges of Louisville; adopted children, Robin Black, Lynne Beal, Ann Price, Chris Griffith, David Griffith, and Lee Hodges, Paulette Cobb,and Larry & Janice Glover; grand dog, Trudy.

The family will be at the Jones residence on West Brown Street in Davisboro and they will receive friends on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
