Mrs. Betty Hodges Lindsey, age 89, of Sandersville, died Saturday, September 17, 2016, at Augusta University Medical Center. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 20th at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Minister Marlon Lastinger will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Chris Lindsey, Adam Lindsey, Michael Lindsey, Chris Jones, Dylan Lindsey, Jalyn Seals, Bryant Poss and Trey Burgamy.
Mrs. Lindsey was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Ralph Jack Hodges and the late Emma Chambers Hodges. She was a homemaker and former employee of Howard Sheppard Inc. Mrs. Lindsey was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she participated in W.M.U. and was a former Sunday School teacher. She was also a former Pink Lady volunteering at the Washington County Regional Medical Center and possessed a great love for gardening and flowers. Mrs. Lindsey’s husband, Wallace Dean Lindsey,and sister Dorothy Gilmore both predecease her.
She is survived by her children, R. Dean Lindsey and his fiancé Pattie Burgamy of Tennille, Andy Lindsey and his wife Debra of Madison, and Patti L. Proveaux and her husband Curt of Sandersville; grandchildren, Chris Lindsey and his wife Gina of Harrison, Deanne Lindsey of Miami, FL., April L. Burgamy and her husband Trey of Sandersville, Adam Lindsey of Los Angeles CA., Michael Lindsey of New York NY., Lauren G. Poss and her husband Bryant of Loganville and Chris Jones of Atlanta; seven great grandchildren; sister, Lynda Wasden and her husband Don of Birmingham AL.; sister-in-law, Anita Alexander of Sumter SC.
The family will be at the Lindsey residence on McIntyre Street in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
