SANDERSVILLE, GA

Mrs. Betty Reynolds Barker, age 72, of Sparta Hwy., Sandersville, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Heritage Inn following an extended illness. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, January 6th, at 3:00 p.m., in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Wade Dawson will officiate. The Barker family will greet friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service.

Betty was born in Sandersville and reared in Riddleville, the daughter of the late Walter Thomas Reynolds and the late Anna Ruth Lindsey Reynolds. She attended Washington County Public School, graduating from Washington County High School. She began a long career in retail working at Pittman Bakery, where she obtained fabulous cooking skills that would follow her throughout her life. Betty was best known as a jewelry sales consultant for Sandersville Jewelers and then J. C. Grants Jewelers. Betty created many friends and trusted customers in this career. Betty was well known as a perfectionist in her cooking and enjoyed catering for numerous family and friends. She was a talented artist and loved creating arts and crafts. She and her husband Steve loved walking in nature and looking for artifacts. Betty adored her pet cats and was a true animal lover. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by one brother, Tommy Reynolds.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Steve Barker of Sandersville; siblings, Barbara R. Jones and her husband Robert of Sandersville and Charles Reynolds of Harrison and many nieces and nephews.
