Betty Tanner Sheppard

Mrs. Betty Tanner Sheppard, age 86, of Jordan Mill Rd., in Sandersville, died Saturday, August 18, 2012, at the Oconee Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 21st at 2:00pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. The Rev. L.T. Logue will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Avant, Ken Avant, Ben Avant, Travis Durden, Charles Smith and William Smith.

Mrs. Sheppard was born in Jefferson County the daughter of the late Gus T. Tanner and the late Belle Paige Tanner. She, along with her late husband William, owned and operated Sheppard Grocery Store in Sandersville for 39 years. She was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church where she was a member of the church WMU. Mrs. Sheppard is predeceased by her husband William M. Sheppard, Jr. and her daughter Shirley S. Lindsey.

Survivors are: her son, Barry Sheppard; her son-in-law, Eugene Lindsey, both of Sandersville; grandchildren, Jeremy (Dee) Lindsey of Sandersville, Juli L. (David Segars) Smith of Tennille, and Stephanie Lindsey of Sandersville; great- grandchildren, Colton Lindsey, Dillon Smith, Kayley Lindsey, Autumn Davis, Chase Lindsey, Cody Cullens and Madison Lindsey and her sister-in-law, Annie Mozelle Adams of Sandersville.

The family will be at the home of Jeremy and Dee Lindsey, 1056 Jordan Mill Road, in Sandersville and they will receive friends Monday from 5 to 7 pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
