Betty Stanley Upshaw

Mrs. Betty Stanley Upshaw, age 81, of 1605 Mt. Zion Road in Warthen died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 in the Extended Care Facility following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, March 30 ^th , in the Sisters Baptist Church in Sandersville with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Jimmy Casey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Tommy Brown, Keith Everett, Jeremy Jones, Andy Jones, Clint Jones, Ben Amerson, J. B. Amerson and Chris Hodges.

Mrs. Upshaw was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Ray Gilmore Jones and the late Grace Tanner Jones. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Stanley and Gerald Upshaw. Mrs. Upshaw was a former manager of Sears and Roebuck in Sandersville and was a retired bookkeeper for the Sandersville Progress. She was a member of the Sisters Baptist Church.

Survivors are her sons, Mike Stanley of Woodstock, AL and Mark Stanley and his wife Beverly of Sandersville; her grandchildren, Nicole Massengale and her husband Chris, Travis Stanley and his wife Jena, Brian Stanley and his wife Carmen, Ray Stanley and Amy Stanley; her great- grandchildren, Lauren Massengale, Taylar Massengale, Peyton Massengale, Morgan Massengale, Milania Stanley, Pete Stanley, Paul Stanley, Mary Catherine Stanley and Merideth Stanley; three sisters, Jeanette Snider and her husband Marion, Linda McDaniel, Martina Hodges and her husband Herbert; four brothers, Warren Jones, Wilbur Jones and his wife Audrey, Jimmy Jones and his wife Louise and Danny Jones and his wife Loy.

The family will receive friends at the home of Jeanette and Marion Snider on Saturday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at 177 Camille Court in Sandersville.

The family suggests donations be made to the Sisters Baptist Church Building Fund, 1807 East McCarty Street, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
