Mrs. Betty Norris Veal, age 77, of Sandersville, died Monday, November 20, 2017 at Heritage Inn following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 24 th at 2:00 p.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Lamar Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Freddy Davis, Larry Veal, Jerry Veal, Jeff Price, and Barry Davis.
Mrs. Veal was born and raised in Glascock County, the daughter of the late Gene Norris and the late Berta Chalker Norris. She began work as a medical attendant at Rawlings Sanitarium. Later she would assist her husband in their family businesses, Tennille Food Center and Busy Bee prior to working for Walmart as a sales associate. Mrs. Veal was a former member of First Church of the Nazarene where she worked with the youth and served as a Sunday school teacher. She was a current member of Good Sheppard Church of the Nazarene and she is predeceased in death by her husband, Reginal C. Veal and one son, Gregory Veal.
Survivors are; her children, Pam Wiggins and her husband Rick and Perry Veal and his wife Jamie all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Durran Smith, Macy Guthrie, Summer Reker and her husband Jacob and Colby Veal; great grandchildren, Brandt Guthrie, Parker Smith, Jacob Lindsey, Blayne Guthrie and Jema Reker; and her sister Dorothy N. Faglier and her husband W.J. of Thomson.
The family will be at the residence of Perry and Jamie Veal on Woodbine Drive in Sandersville and they will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Funeral Home Friday.
