Mrs. Betty Jean Wood, age 66, of Tennille, died Saturday night in an Augusta hospital following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church in Sandersville, with burial in Poplar Springs Christian Church Cemetery. Reverend L. T. Logue and Reverend Nathan Adams will officiate. Pallbearers will be Ashley Bridges, Cody Stagner, Josh Stagner, David Dollar, Daniel Cobb, Tyler Brett, Larry Sims and Daniel McClure.
Mrs. Wood was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Harry H. Williams, Sr. and the late Dorothy Lee McCoy Williams. She was the wife of the late Douglas Prosser and the late Elmer Wood and was predeceased by her brothers, Harry James Williams and Kenneth Lamar Williams. Mrs. Wood was a homemaker and a retired sales associate with Hardee's and Wal Mart. She was a volunteer with Christian Life Center. Mrs. Wood was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors are two daughters: Norma Jean Brown and her husband Jimmy of Sandersville and Bonnie Prosser Sims of Sandersville; a son, John Wayne Prosser of Tennille; six grandchildren, Jamie Cobb and her husband Daniel, Crystal Dollar and her husband David, Taylor Brett and her husband Tyler, Douglas Monroe Sims, Jonathan Prosser and Andrew Somers; three great grandchildren, Sophia Rayne Cobb, Sylas James Brett and Morgan Brett; sister, Dorothy Lee McDonald of Oconee.
The family will receive friends at Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. Tuesday until the hour of service.
