Mr. Billy "Bugger" Denton, age 77, of Tennille died Wednesday morning September 30 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 2 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville with burial in the Zeta Cemetery.
Mr. Denton was a native of Glascock County, Georgia, the son of the late Willie Denton and the late Sanka Johnson Denton. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Ann Denton and Eloise Snider and a brother, Allen Denton. Mr. Denton was a retired well digger for Sandersville Well Company. He was a former employee of the Washington Manufacturing Company and the Georgia Department of Transportation.
Survivors are his wife, Delia Waters Denton of Tennille, three sons, David Denton, Willie Harold Denton and Russell Denton and his wife Laura all of Tennille, ten grandchildren, Samuel Warren, Kasey Lewis Collins, Amanda Collins and her husband Lavell, Lindsey Hinson, Holly Denton, Charlie Denton, Tiffany Sutherland and her husband Michael, Stacey Denton and David Denton, Jr., seven great grandchildren, Nathaniel Hinson, C. J. Fulwood, Hayden Denton, Xander Denton, Rayne Collins, Alex Jackson and Hunter Hinson, a sister, Mary Ann Bates of Gainesville.
The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday.
