Mr. Billy Frank Duggan, Sr., age 92, of Betty Street, Sandersville, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel at May and Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Trip Hodges III will officiate. Mr. Duggan’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary groups will be Deacons of Tennille Christian Church, members of the Georgia National Guard and former co-workers of Thiele Kaolin Company. Mr. Duggans family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.
Mr. Duggan was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Franklin E. Duggan and the late Ethel Brantley Duggan. He grew up on a farm and graduated from high school in Harrison. Following high school, Billy began his working career with Thiele Kaolin Company, prior to being drafted by the US Army. He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in Germany, where he was awarded an occupation ribbon. Billy continued his military service with the Georgia National Guard retiring as a Captain. He spent his entire working career at Thiele Kaolin Company retiring in 1994, after 45 years of service as a shift Forman. Billy was a longtime and active member of the Tennille Christian Church where he served as a church deacon and a member of the church board. He was a car enthusiast who loved attending car shows and car museums. Billy was known as a hard worker and placed much effort into his family, church and work. In addition to his parents, Billy is predeceased by wives, Jerry, Peggy and Jandall and his sister Rachel Duggan Garland.
Survivors include his children, Deborah D. Fessler and her husband Paul of Villa Rica, Ronnie Duggan and his wife Vicki of Sandersville, Billy Duggan Jr. and his wife Rhonda of Adel, Margie Anderson and her husband Charlie of Harrington Delaware, and Sandy Moye and her husband Ben of Lawrenceville and 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
