Billy Woods

Mr. Billy Woods, age 62 of Warthen, passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 27, 2023. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Pine Hill Methodist Church Cemetery in Warthen. Reverend Gregory Ely will officiate.

Mr. Woods was born in Sandersville, the son of the late William Melton Woods, Jr. and Mrs. Catherine Hattaway Woods. He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a 1979 graduate of Brentwood School. Billy spent his working career with LAAP Insulators and J.M. Huber. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Billy also very much liked to travel to Biloxi and Gulf Port, Mississippi. He loved his family above all else and was always ready to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Pine Hill United Methodist Church.

Mr. Woods is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, and 11 months, Helen Carroll Woods; daughter, Jennifer Wood of Warthen; stepson, Greg Brantley, and his wife Nickie of Sandersville; grandsons, Briar Brantley, Easton Wood, and Will Wood; mother, Catherine Hattaway Woods; and brother Al Woods, both of Warthen.

The family will be at the home of Jennifer Wood on Hamburg State Park Road in Warthen.

The family suggests donations be made in Billy’s memory to the charity of the giver’s choice.
