Mrs. Bobbie Roberts Brantley, age 71, of Metter, formerly of West Church Street in Sandersville, died Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Ogeechee Hospice in Statesboro. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Dr. Frank Hutcheson, Rev. Larry Orr and Jimmy Godfrey will officiate. Pallbearers will be Eddie Moye, Dewey Holton Jr., Jimmy Lanier, Landon Lanier, Gary Thrower, and Andy Fields.
“Bobbi” as she was affectionately called by grandchildren, was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the daughter of the late Leo “Sambo” Roberts and the late Dorothy Orr Thompson. She along with her husband J.M. co-owned and operated the former Chalk-line Janitorial Service and the former Bobbi’s Contracting, a wall paper installation service. She was a member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include: her husband Jessie M. “J.M.” Brantley of Metter, her son Eric Brantley and his wife Lynne of Milledgeville, grandchildren, Josh Brantley of Smyrna and Erica Lanier and her husband Spencer of Statesboro, her great granddaughter Emma Louise Lanier, brothers, William “Buddy” Roberts and his wife Jimmie of Dublin, Sammy Roberts and his wife Patsy of Lilburn, and Joe Johnson and his wife Glenda of Riddleville. Bobbie always loved her nieces and nephews as her own children including Cliff Roberts, Marvin Webster, Jason Roberts and Jessica Rose and their familes.
The family will receive friends prior to the funeral on Sunday from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
