B.R. Smith

Mr. B.R. Smith, age 85 of Riddleville Road, Sandersville died Friday, May 29, 2009. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2: oopm at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with entombment in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Rev. Mike Brown will officiate. Pallbearers will be Larry Smith, George Lord, Van Prince, Hubert Hodges, Jimmy Prince, Stanley Broxton, Thomas Lovett and George Garbutt. Honorary Pallbearers will be current and former employees of Thiele Kaolin Company.

Mr. Smith was born in Washington County the son of the late Ben Richard Smith Sr. and the late Janie Tompkins Smith. He was retired from Thiele Kaolin Company with 43 years of service and was a life time farmer. Mr. Smith was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church, a member of the Hamilton Masonic Lodge and an Army Veteran of WWII.

Survivors are his children, Sue S. Andrews (Wendell), Richard D. Smith (Deborah) and Ben Gordon Smith all of Sandersville, grandchildren, Keith Andrews (Crystal), of Sandersville, Casey S. Parrott (Steve) of Woodbine, Michele A. Durden (Chris) of Sandersville and Jason Smith (Leigh) of Thompson, great grandchildren, Madison Parrott, Kristen Durden, Dylan Andrews, and Ben Parrott and his brother Rembert Smith of Augusta.

The family will be at the Andrews residence 3286 Holmes Cannery Rd., Sandersville and receive friends Saturday from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Donations may be made to the Sandersville United Methodist Church P.O. Box 611, Sandersville, GA. 31082 or to the American Cancer Society P.O. Box 632, Sandersville, GA. 31082.
