Ms. Brenda Stephens Askew, age 58, of Archer Road, Sandersville, died Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at her residence. A memorial service celebrating her life will be on Friday, August 26th at 2:00 p.m. with family receiving friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home. Pastor Weston Williford will officiate.
Brenda was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Lee Otis Stephens and the late Betty Jane Meeks Stephens. She graduated from Washington County High School in 1981 and began her working career with Food Lion. Brenda was a longtime retail clerk for the Feed Mill and currently worked for Napa in Louisville. She loved working in her yards, fishing and traveling to the mountains. One of her favorite hobbies was assembling Christmas gifts for elder homes. Brenda was always known for her friendly and outgoing personality. Her latest love was the role of being a grandmother. In addition to her parents, Brenda is predeceased by her siblings, Curtis Stephens, Sheree Gidens and Eileen Helton.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Askew of Tennille and Ben Askew and his wife Anne of Fort Myers, FL.; grandson, Jeffrey Askew; siblings, Benny Stephens of Sandersville and Sadie S. Flury and her husband Julius of Milledgeville and her partner, Stanly Clements of Wrightsville.
