Buford Boatright

January 27, 1921 — July 11, 2011

Buford Boatright, 90, of Pompano Beach, FL, passed away Monday, July 11, 2011. Born and raised in Washington County, Georgia, Buford graduated from South Georgia College. He then began his 43-year career working for Southern Bell/ATT in Macon, Georgia where he met both of his beloved wives who predeceased him, Alicia Howard and Mildred Lassiter. With his friendliness and quick smile, Buford’s love of life and people made him a favorite of all who knew him. He loved his family and the Lord, his swing music and dancing; Georgia sports teams, and playing golf. His desire to serve others led him to join the Mickey Fuller Masonic Lodge (a 60 year member and past Master) and the Shriners (Al Shiah Temple—Ritualistic Cast), the Golden K Kiwanis Club (charter member), and the Telephone Pioneers (a past president of the Macon Council). He was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church in Macon, then the First Baptist Church in Montezuma, and he was a member of the Trailblazers of the First Baptist Church of Pompano Beach during the last 3 years of his life. He was a sweet, loving, gracious gentleman who blessed the lives of others with his generosity and encouraging attitude. His is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Louie Cayere, and Joan and Charles Cannon; his sister-in-law, Joyce Williams; daughter-in-law, Gail Lassiter; his grandchildren, Alicia Patron, Jeff (Michelle) Connelly, Sydney (Bobby) Hughes, Ray (Alison) Lassiter, Joe Lassiter, Charlie (Sherrie) Cannon, and Jamie Cannon, Grisselle (Frank) Cayere along with 13 great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
