Mr. Burell Calvin Rogers, age 84, of Wadley, Georgia, passed away at his residence, with his daughter and son by his side, Saturday, December 2, 2023.
Burell was born on April 4, 1939, in Orlando, Florida, to the late Owen C. and Lillie Gibson Rogers, as the second oldest of six children. He started working at a young age when he met his late wife, Barbara Ann Bowen Rogers, at her family's BBQ restaurant. Together, they raised two children between Kissimmee and Okeechobee, Florida, spending most of their life in their Ft. Drum cottage. He and his father co-owned Dairy Farms, and he worked as a manager and dairy farmer for most of his life. He was an avid fisherman and loved hunting. He took great pride in his yard, flowers and fruit trees. He loved Western TV shows and listening to Elvis and Hank Williams. Later in life, Burell and Barbara moved to Georgia to be near family, where he continued his joy of fishing and hunting.
Survivors include, his children, Burell D. Rogers of Bartow, GA. and Julie Johnston and her husband Derek of Deatsville, AL.; grandchildren, Burell "Lee" Rogers, Brandon Rogers (Hattie), Heidi Polito (Gerald) and Dustin Murphy (Melissa); his beautiful five great-granddaughters, he called his princesses; and siblings, Ruth McCormick of Fayette, AL., Earl Rogers (Judy) of Orlando, FL., Linda Boothe of Mt. Home, AR., and Nona Koster (Paul) of Fayette, AL. Mr. Rogers is predeceased by his brother Robert A. Rogers.
