Capers O'Dell Brazzell

Sandersville

Mr. Capers O'Dell Brazzell, age 83, of Morningside Drive, Sandersville, passed away at his residence July 26, 2024 following an extended illness.  A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandersville United Methodist Church.  Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate.   Mr. Brazzell's family will receive friends following the memorial service in Heritage Hall of church.  Employees of WaCo 100 Radio Station and members of Tennille Rotary Club will sit as honorary groups.

Mr. Brazzell was born in Rockhill, South Carolina, son of the late Cleatus O'Dell Brazzell and the late Frances McCravy Brazzell.  Capers was reared in Easley, South Carolina where he graduated High School excelling in academics and football. He attended the University of South Carolina where he continued his football career and graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree in psychology.  He began his lifelong work in radio in his family's business W.E.L.P. Radio in Easley and also worked as an instructor of psychology at a local technical school in Greenville.   In the mid 1970's, Mr. Brazzell moved to Swainsboro, Georgia to manage family-owned radio stations.  There he was active in his community, raised his family and enjoyed coaching childrens sports.  In the mid 1990's, Capers moved to Sandersville to own and operate W.S.N.T / WaCo 100 Radio in which he continued until his death.  He became a familiar radio personality to the Washington and surrounding counties.  Capers was a member of the Sandersville United Methodist Church and an active member of the Tennille Rotary Club where he was a former club president.  He was an avid dog lover and cherished all of his family.

Survivors include his wife Deborah McKamey Brazzell of Sandersville; children, Rocky Brazzell and Curry B. Epley both of Wilmington Island and Cameron Brazzell of Atlanta; stepchildren Metthew Kersey of Ailey, Trent Kersey of Swainsboro and Leslie Meeks of Sandersville; 14 grandchildren and his sister Leah Katherine Burgess of Easley, SC.
