Carl Vinson Brookins, Jr., age 67, of Panther Branch Road, Sandersville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday, January 12, 2025. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, January 16, at 4:00 p.m. at Sandersville Methodist Church. Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate. Employees of CVB Industrial Contracting and members of the Sandersville Rotary Club will sit as honorary pallbearers. C.V.'s family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service in Heritage Hall of the Church.
Mr. Brookins was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He grew up on South Harris Street, across from the Washington County Stock Yard, where he began working at the age of 14. Riding his bike to the Dairy Lane was a daily occurrence. C.V. graduated from Washington County High School, where he participated in sports. While in high school, he developed a love for horses and could often be seen riding in parades. He began his career selling cars with his father-in-law, David Smith Sr. While working for Cypress Clay Company, C.V., along with his brother Ronald, created Eagle Cleaning and Coating, a business that offered pressure washing and parking lot stripping. He later took his newfound business skills and used them to form CVB Industrial Contracting, a company he would own and operate until his death.
C.V. loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He cherished time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He valued his social time with friends and was always ready to share the best stories that captivated and entertained everyone around him. C.V. was a community supporter and philanthropist whose generosity touched many lives. He was an active member of the Sandersville Rotary Club, where he was a distinguished multiple Paul Harris Fellow and previously awarded the Sandersville Rotarian Member of the Year Award. C.V. was a member of the Twin City Country Club and previously served on its board of directors. He was active with the Georgia Mining Association, where he was the past recipient of the Georgia Mining Associate Member of the Year award. One of his favorite pastimes was repeatedly watching Western shows and movies. Many will miss his love, compassion, personality, and wit. His parents, Carl Vinson Brookins Sr. and Dorothy Mae Brantley Brookins, along with siblings Shelia Bridges, Ronald Brookins, and Mary Ellen Morris, all predeceased him.
Survivors include his daughters, Courtney B. Tollison of Sandersville and Kirby B. Holmes and her husband Lance of East Dublin; grandchildren, Natalie Tollison, Millie Kate Knowles, William James "Tripp" Tollison III and Huck Holmes, his sister Faye Robson of St. Petersburg, FL., and his love, Florence West Mixon-Brookins and the entire Mixon family.
