Carmen Diaz

Ms. Carmen Diaz, age 98, of Tennille, died Thursday, August 09, 2012 at the Tennille Retirement Home. A family memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 11th from 4 to 6pm at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.

Ms. Diaz was born in Key West FL, the daughter of the late Julian Diaz, Sr. and the late Elisa Garcia Diaz. She was a longtime resident of Tampa FL prior to moving to Atlanta. Ms. Diaz began working with the US Postal Service during WWII before spending most of her work career with the United Way in Tampa. She retired to Washington County to be near family in 2003.

Survivors are her brother, Julian Diaz Jr., his wife Leonila of Tennille; nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sandersville Rotary Club’s “Coins for Alzheimer’s Research Trust”, P.O Box 5828, Sandersville, GA 31082.

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
