Carolyn Fennell Smith

July 7, 1945 — March 6, 2020

Mrs. Carolyn Fennell Smith, age 74, of Sandersville, died Friday, March 6, 2020 at Heritage Inn Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens. Reverend Lamar Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Elijah Smith, Trae Smith, Tyler Waters-Smith, Yonah Johnson, Hunter Powell, and Jeff Pettit.

Mrs. Smith was born in Hawkinsville, the daughter of the late Lewis Etheridge Fennell and the late Claudia Taylor Fennell. She, along with her late husband Joe, co-owned and operated the former Joe Smith Services. Carolyn was a member of the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene. She loved traveling with her husband, many times flying in their private plane, following the Atlanta Braves. She also loved spending time at their lake home on Lake Sinclair and being with her beloved grandchildren. Mrs. Smith is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Lamar Smith, her son, Joey Smith and sister, Sarah Daniel.

Survivors are her children, Michael Smith and his wife Paula of Dublin and Wendy S. Pettit and her husband Jeff of Sandersville; grandchildren, Trae Smith and his wife Kayann, Tyler Waters-Smith and his wife Mary Elizabeth, Anna Powell and her husband Hunter, Jordan Pettit, Elijah Smith, AbbEy Pettit, Mia Pettit, Maggie Smith and Sarah Kate Smith; and her sister, Ruth Dodge of Douglasville.

The family will be at the Pettit residence on Woodland Drive in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 until the hour of service at the church.

Donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Church of the Nazarene children's department, 316 East South Central Ave., Tennille, GA 31089.
