Carolyn Amerson Fordham died on December 29, 2017. She was a native of Washington County, Georgia, but had lived in the Raleigh area for the last thirteen years. During the years spent at Brookdale North Raleigh, she made many good friends and helped establish a weekly worship service. She was a graduate of Sandersville High School, attended Georgia State College for Women, received her degree from Georgia Southern University, and did graduate work at the University of Georgia. She taught school in Jesup, Swainsboro, Savannah, and Thomaston, Georgia; after retirement, she taught private school at Westwood Academy in Thomaston. Always active in the Baptist Church wherever she lived, she returned home to and was a member for most of her life at Mineral Springs Baptist Church.
She was predeceased by her sister, Edna Amerson Toney, her husband, William C. “Bill” Fordham, and her parents, F. Green and Bessie Mae Amerson. She is survived by her nieces and their families, Elizabeth Melvin and her husband, Roger, and their son and daughter-in-law, John and Emily; Susan Gilliam and her husband, Johnny, and their daughter, Mayla, all of Wake Forest, NC. Her devotion, support and love will be greatly missed by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, Mitchell, Georgia. Family will receive friends after the service.
